Q-switched Nd:YAG laser
Nd:YAG laser for tattoo removal and the clearing of other pigments including melasma
Description
The operational wavelength of the Nd:YAG lasers is 1064 nanometers. These contact lasers, which are delivered via fiberoptic, produce a pulsed beam of energy that flows freely. The longer, near-infrared ray of 1,064 nanometers emitted by this Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is capable of penetrating deeper layers of skin. By selectively photothermolysis, it is therefore capable of eliminating deeply rooted melasma, tattoo inks, and other subdermal pigments. The absorption of photothermal energy by the pigment leads to the fragmentation of the colored molecules into small shuttered pieces. These fragments are subsequently eliminated by phagocytes or lymphatic drainage.
